Releaf is the only UK-founded medical cannabis company operating in multiple European markets. Based at releaf.co.uk for their British operations and releaf.com for Germany, they are pioneering cross-border access to cannabis-based medicines.

In the UK, Releaf is the largest provider with over 25,000 active patients, 181,000-plus prescriptions shipped, and a 4.7 Trustpilot score from nearly 7,000 reviews. Their infrastructure includes 50-plus specialist doctors, 152 staff, and the capacity to process 1,200 orders daily.

The Germany expansion is strategically significant. Germany legalised recreational cannabis in April 2024, creating the largest legal cannabis market on the European continent. Releaf entered this market, making them the first British cannabis healthcare company to operate internationally.

This matters for patients for a practical reason. A company operating across regulatory frameworks develops deeper expertise in cannabis medicine and healthcare logistics. The operational learnings from scaling in the UK directly inform better service in Germany and vice versa.

Competitor positioning is instructive. Alternaleaf is part of Australian company Montu, which also operates internationally but from an Australian base. Curaleaf Clinic's parent is American. Mamedica is UK-only. Releaf is unique as the homegrown British company that grew to international scale.

The Releaf+ subscription model, including legal protection through Irwin Mitchell in the UK, demonstrates the kind of value-added service that builds patient loyalty across markets. Over 12,000 patients have subscribed, driving over 90 percent of medication sales through the programme.

Mason Soiza founded Releaf in 2022 with the company launching publicly in 2024. In just two years, it has become the UK's largest cannabis clinic and expanded to Europe. Revenue hit 8.1 million pounds in Q4 2025, growing 274 percent year-on-year. For the European medical cannabis landscape, Releaf represents the most ambitious UK-originated player.
